5 Easy Tips For Starting A Blog For Your Business

Blogging is an incredible way to interact with your customers, stay relevant and be viewed as a credible authority in your respected industry. It is also a phenomenal way to climb in the search engine rankings making it easier for people to find you. No matter how big or small your business may be, a blog can serve as a wonderful tool and supplement to your social media and online marketing campaigns.

Here are my five easy tips for starting a blog for your business:

1. Be Consistent

Consistency is key when it comes to putting out your blog posts. Without a proper schedule or update pattern, readers will not know when to look out for your posts. This will also make you look more organized and professional as you will build trust with your reader base. How often you blog doesn’t matter as much to how consistent you blog. Whether you blog once a month, once a week or everyday, be sure to follow the same pattern. In addition to this being great for your readers, this is also a great benefit to your blogging team as they will have deadlines and guidelines when creating content. I would suggest creating enough blogs for a month before launching so you will always be ahead and be sure to hit deadlines.

2. Study Others Blogging In Your Industry

Another way to get your blog up and going or to take it to the next level is to study the top bloggers in your industry. For example, if you have a clothing line take a look at some of the top bloggers in the fashion industry, more specifically, ones that do the same kind of fashion you do. If you make hats study hat bloggers, if women’s clothing study women’s clothing blogs, etc..

3. Recruit Contributors

Having more than one contributor to your blog will not only make it easier and more efficient to develop content for your blog, it will also make it more diverse giving it multiple perspectives for your industry. A blog I work with who does an excellent job of this is Total Gym Direct’s blog Total Gym Pulse. On their blog you will not only find that it’s consistent but it is also very diverse and hits a lot of areas of the health and fitness demographic. They not only have contributors who write talk about new Total Gym workouts but ones who cover all areas of the health and fitness industry.

4. Add Video

You can have a phenomenal blog by using great articles accompanied by high quality pictures. However, if you want to take it a step further, add video to your blogs. As the internet grows with a vast amount of information out there, it seems our attention spans are growing less and less. Again, I will go to Total Gym Pulse. Most of the blog posts which have to do with a Total Gym workout are paired with a video.

5. Hire A Third Party

Finally, if you understand the importance a blog can bring to your business but simply don’t have the time or man power to get it up and going, I suggest hiring out a third party to create content and manage your blog. This way you can concentrate on what it is you do best for your business. Have a weekly, bi-monthly or monthly calls with your blogging team to make sure everyone is on the same page.

There you have it. Follow these 5 easy tips and begin blogging for your business today!
